I LOVE fashion. When I was growing up my mother shopped in small boutiques. There was one in particular, Tops & Bottoms, that l vividly remember. I can still see the shop’s storefront, interior layout, designer clothes, and the staff who dressed as if the store was a runway.
When my mom tried on clothes, she joined them on stage. I watched them curate her public presentation, and I saw their beauty wasn’t limited to their facial features or body size, instead it was how they expressed themselves; how the items they wore generated and reflected their attitude and confidence.
As I developed my own sense of style, I began to understand that fashion has the power to boost one’s mood, confidence, audaciousness, and power.
I suffer from persistent depression (clinical term for consistent) and PTSD. There are days I struggle to leave the house or get dressed, but when I do, I select my clothes, shoes, and accessories based on my mood and how I want to be seen. Fashion allows me to focus on the positive energy inside of me; and creating jewelry shows the beauty and complexity of my mind and our world.
I create each one-of-a kind piece with intention and love; with the hope that everyone who wears my jewelry will feel the calm, healing, peace, and joy contained in each gemstone.
